Every successful person has a struggle story so do Gahna Wadhwa have. She believes that struggle stories inspire. Whenever she feels low, she read such stories to get inspired. She is a girl with big dreams. Even from the age of 10, she knows what she wanted to do. She has learning dance since the age of 6, but when people started praising her expression, she started trying her hands in the field of acting too, and that became her passion and now her profession. She started giving acting auditions from the age of 13. She used to live in Thane District, and with her parents, she used to travel to Andheri just for 1 or 2 auditions like 5-6 times a month. She is one of those lucky children who got full support from parents and family.
One day she got a call that I have been selected for a character role. She had prelims in her school but since she was new to the industry, she decided not to say no to her first work and her parents took her to the sets and
“I went to the shoot location along with my books .”
The call time was 9:00 AM and soon after reaching all her makeup and costume was done and they told her the brief on the set. But they made her wait till 12:00 AM as they had to shoot for other scenes too.
“Finally, they called me and I got to know that I was just a part of the crowd…. Yes… that was the first job I did in this industry.”She did her diploma from Anupam Kher’s Actor Prepares in 2019. After that, she started giving auditions by her own. ” I travelled in local trains. Stood in those long audition lines, I believe that even auditions are part of practice.”
OI: How you practice your skills?
GW: Every actor/actress has a different way of practicing though many activities/exercises are similar. So, I will tell you a very fun thing I do. I try to change myself into some new character every month like I will change my walk, my accent a bit then some of my choices and many other small things as some different character probably by observing others while walking on streets, in local trains, malls, etc.
OI: How are you as a person?
GW: I am a very Sensitive person. No… that’s not my weakness but my strength as an actress that I can do emotional scenes easily. Haha. I always try to take everything in a positive way and changing my weaknesses to my strengths is my biggest strength.
OI: What are your strongest belief?
GW: The mind is powerful, and when one fills it with positivity, life naturally becomes positive. Being optimistic has always had an impact on my life because I think that way all the things happening to me is positive. I believe in the law of attraction.
OI: What are your greatest learnings, and what you would like to include in your list of achievements?
GW: So here’s what I have done: Theaters, Lead roles in Web Series, few songs, etc. I have been through a lot of rejections. I am still in my struggling stage. I still feel breakdown sometimes, but the hope never goes off. That passion always holds me. I fall, I cry, and I get up and walk on the path of success again. People will hate you at times, but that will help you get the motivation for growing more and more towards success.
OI: How do you define failures, and what is your success mantra?
GW: I am not the kind of person who blames others or makes excuses. I believe that one of the most important keys to success is having the discipline to do what I know I should do even when I don’t feel like doing it and those daily decisions often involve taking responsibility for my own choices and actions.
OI: What are your interests apart from acting?
GW: Apart from acting I have also done modeling side by side as a lot of people constantly gave me compliments for my height but over the period of time I also realized that I am actually good with posing and walk. Of course, I am still learning because there is no end to our search for knowledge and capacity to learn. I have done print shoots, Website ads, Ramp, etc.
OI: Why you chose acting as a career?
GW: My aim is to try out, learn, and do as much as I can in my life. That could be one more reason that I took acting as my career because I will get a chance to live so many different lives. I am trying to learn many different things in different fields like designing, business, technology, creatives, web development, etc. I always try to surprise myself by doing or learning something new every day.
OI: You are also a very active blogger, we would like to know what made you try your hands in blogging?
GW: I have started blogging mainly into fashion because fashion has always been close to my heart. I was always picky about my outfits even as a child. I also try other kinds of blogging like beauty, lifestyle, etc. For me, fashion is about experimenting. I love playing with different colors and prints. I take fashion in a very creative and fun way. I am open to experiments. I try to mix match inexpensive clothes with expensive ones. I also give tips on how one can style on a budget, how-to DIY various clothing items, wear/style a cloth in many ways. Also, I never give any fashion tips to my viewers unless I don’t try them by myself, For example, if I make a video on wearing a dupatta as a top so I myself wear that for the entire day and I will put it on my gram only if that is comfortable and wearable for going out and not just for the video.
My style is mainly bold yet sweet. Maybe because my sun sign is Scorpio. Haha.
I have also got interested in self-portraits so I’m trying to put up some creative ideas on my Instagram handle named @gahnawadhwa.
OI: Your skin looks amazing, we would like to know about your skincare routine.
GW: I would love to share my skincare secret… Shh… This will no more be a secret I also have a normal skincare routine like most of the people have but other than that I do some small things. Whenever I have some fruits like papaya, bananas, etc, or other food like tomatoes, lemon, curd, White butter (Makhan) I apply it on my face as well as on my hands. Then I wash it after 5 to 15 minutes depends on the type of food I am applying. You can even search on Google about the benefits of the food you are applying on your skin or hair. If you must be reading Beauty or Skincare blog, newspaper, or maybe watching videos related to the same topic on youtube, Instagram, etc you may have an idea of what are simple home remedies. You can even ask your mom and grandmom about their skin secrets…Haha. I always change my skin routine after every 5 to 6 months because it really keeps me motivated as trying some new products automatically changes my mind from boredom to exciting.
OI: How you destress yourself? What is your favorite thing to do in your leisure time?
GW: Writing is my hobby. There is no specific genre of my writings. I see I observe and I react by writing it on a piece of paper or on my phone. One can always find a notebook in my bag and the notes on my phone filled with writings. Many of them are immature writings. I write to destress and ease my mind. But I do share some of them with others. Also, when I am not able to explain someone about me or what I am feeling I write a poem on the situation and send them.
Let us end this interview with some of your writings.
1. I was lost in woods.
I was not able to carry heavy goods.
You caught me in your right arm.
I started feeling now there’s no harm.
You pressed your hard body towards me
I realized you were protecting me from wild bee.
2. Now I don’t need a shoulder to cry
because now I have a stage to show all my emotions.
Now I can make million people cry showing my truth instead of making him believe that I am true.
Even I am a human being with real tears just a difference is I cry for something else but relate to something else.
I have all types of emotions and my profession cannot be defined.
I give you a tour of a different lifestyle forgetting all the bad and good of your own life for at least 2 to 3 hours or even more.
3. Train Traveller
Scrambled in the crowd.
People shouting aloud.
Some making them calm.
Some watching window farm.
Some listening to a song named alarm.
OMG you stamped my feet.
Get up that is my seat.
Don’t dare to cheat.
I am an old lady this is the way you treat.
